Presidential elections, now mapped by barangay.
After about three months of development, I am delighted to present a fully interactive map of the 2022 Philippine presidential election, per the transmitted COMELEC election returns, representing ~98% of established precincts by barangay.
The barangay is lowest unit of government in the Philippines and represents the most local form of formal engagement with governance.
Barangay-level election maps provide unprecedented insights to hyper-local electoral trends. This improves on mapping results on a municipal-level, which often obscures unique and diverging electoral trends.
Two maps were created, one representing presidential results, another representing turnout. More maps will follow, stay tuned with @bnstim on X (formerly Twitter).
The first map below is colored by the percent margin of the winning candidate in that barangay. The darker the color, the higher the support for that candidate.
As per usual convention, Marcos is represented by red, Robredo by pink, Pacquiao by orange, Domagoso by light blue, Lacson by dark blue, and Mangondato by green.
When clicking a barangay, pop-up will appear displaying its results. This will display a bar chart, and the respective votes garnered and vote shares garnered by each candidate.
